About FinanceSheep
A free, interactive finance education engine
What is FinanceSheep?
FinanceSheep is a free, interactive finance education engine. It covers 32 topics across corporate finance and valuation โ from the fundamentals of time value of money through to advanced subjects like discounted cash flow modelling, options pricing, and private company valuation.
Every topic includes a live calculator you can experiment with, a plain-English explanation of the underlying concept, sensitivity tables that show how results change when your assumptions shift, and practice questions to test your understanding. The built-in spreadsheet lets you go further and model scenarios from scratch.
There is no login, no subscription, and no paywall. Everything on this site is free.
Why we built it
Finance education has a jargon problem. Concepts that are genuinely straightforward โ present value, discount rates, the cost of equity โ get buried under notation and formulas in a way that makes them feel more intimidating than they are. The result is that a lot of people who could benefit from understanding these ideas never get past the surface.
The best way to actually learn finance is to put numbers in and see what comes out. Not to read a formula, but to pull a lever โ to ask "what happens to my DCF valuation if the discount rate goes up by 2%?" and watch the answer change in real time. FinanceSheep is built around that experience.
Who it is for
FinanceSheep is for finance students working through a valuation or corporate finance course. It is for analysts and associates who want to check their intuition or quickly explore a concept before a meeting. And it is for anyone โ inside or outside finance โ who wants to understand what the numbers in a company's annual report or news story actually mean.
The 32 topics range from introductory (compound interest, simple present value) to advanced (WACC, relative valuation with multiples, options pricing with Black-Scholes, mergers and LBO modelling). You can start anywhere.
